25th Anniversary Mule Haul - the biggest ever!

Who would have thought 25 years ago that the Mule Haul road race would still be around in 2008.  Probably not the handful of club members who picniced at the site way back then and decided it would be a good place for a race—it was the club’s second official event—or the couple of dozen folks who took part in race number one.  Yet, thanks to the dedication of the club and its many sponsors and volunteers, led again this year by Jim Moore, the race has survived and flourished, setting yet another record in 2008, with eight more finishers than ever before.  First of this year’s 241 finishers was Joel Frost-Tift, 20, of Averill Park, a first-time Mule Hauler, who clocked a 27:12.  Second went to 2005 winner Brendan Devine, 17, of Bethel, N.Y., and Shaun Evans, 30, of Middle Grove took third.  For the women it was Justine Mosher, 23, of Queensbury who earned the winner’s crown with a 32:54 finishing time. Justine is a veteran of the race, winning it previously, in 2005.  2003 winner Kim Miseno-Bowles, 37, and Regina Flint, 34, both of Amsterdam, were second and third for the women.
