Start of 2010 Winter Wimp

    • The annual FMRRC picnic will take place Sunday, August 8, at 1PM at Yankee Hill Lock (traditional start site of the Mule Haul). Please bring an appetite and if possible, bring a dish or other item that you can pass around. See you there!
    • Mule Haul Notes - Volunteer coordinator Jane Constantine would like to issue a big "THANK YOU" to all the volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the Mule Haul the exceelent race that it is every year.  The Kids Run was a big hit, with approximately 50 competitors. Winners were Kyle Dickman with a time of 7:18, and Julianna Taylor with a time of 7:27.
    • Results for the Adirondack Distance Run can be found here.
    • Mule Haul Results are in - to see them click here.  There were 210 runners.  Shaun Evans was the top men's finisher and Theresa Stern was first in women's.

    • Results for the Lexington Run have just arrived - to see them click here.  There were 90 total runners, with 38 FMRRC members finishing.  Ryan Blackmon and Kellie Lawton were the overall men's and women's winners.
    • Results for the Amsterdam Carburetor and Electric  Family Fun Run Mile have just arrived - to see them click here
    • The St. Mary's Heart Smart 5K race took place Saturday, May 15.  Results are posted here.
    • The A.C.E.  Family Fun Run Mile is in the books. Larry Poitras was the overall mens winner and Kellie Lawton was the overall womens winner.  Results will be available soon.
    • The YMCA Spring Sprint 5K is in the books! The race , favored by it's usual balmy weather (as in you don't have to be balmy to run, but it helps), went off without a hitch.  There were 128 finishers, of which 47 were FMRRC runners.  The overall winners were FMRRC'ers Larry Poitras and Regina Flint.  Special thanks and big congratulations to Peter Riley and the YMCA staff and volunteers, and FMRRC volunteers, for making sure the event ran as smoothly as it did.  Here's the results.
    • Updated email addresses needed - Our Volunteers Committee chairwoman, Jane Constantine, needs to update her email list.  If  you haven't received an email from her in the last month, please email Jane Constantine
    • The Capital District YMCA is once again putting on a 5K race series this year.  Dr. Tim Maggs is serving as chairman for this series, and all proceeds go to a scholarship fund for young people in need throughout our area.  You can read the story here and find out how to race and benefit our community.
    • To see a collage of FMRRC Winter Wimp and Polar Cap runners go here. A big tip of the hat goes to Brian Teague of Fateague Fotos for putting them together.  If you want a picture of runners in action at local races, there is no bettter source.
    • The Polar Cap Results are in - for the results click HERE.
    • The latest Mileage Challenge numbers are up - see what you  and fellow runners are up to. Follow the Mileage Challenge link or for the clicking impaired click here.   All participants who have not yet reported their final totals for 2009 are asked to do so as soon as possible to receive certificates and close 2009.
    • New feature on the website - a race results page has been added to the website - see the links on the left hand side of each page.  Here you'll find results for all Grand Prix and other races, including some results you probably won't find elsewhere.   If anyone out in the running community has race results or an upcoming race they'd like to have added to the race results or race calender, or comments or sugggestions about the website, please email Bill Platt
    • Looking for someone to run with on Saturday mornings?  Come to the Burger King Restaraunt on Route 30 in Amsterdam. That's now been adopted as the official meeting place following the recent closing of  McDonalds up the road.  On almost any Saturday morning year-round you'll find Fulmont Roadrunners running four or eight miles (and sometimes more) at varing paces, starting out at 8 AM. There's also a walking group.  After the running/walking, most folks stop in at Burger King for refreshments and war stories (about their chosen sport, of course)
