  • The YMCA Spring Sprint is in the books! For a change the weather was perfect (no kidding) and it was a great day to run. Thanks to the YMCA and all the volunteers, ably assisted by FMRCC (shameless plug), the Spring Sprint once again went out without a hitch. Here's the results - Overall and  Age Groups
  • If you're thinking about running the Mohawk Hudson River Marathon this year it would be a good idea to sign up now. The half marathon is already filled, and last year the marathon filled up in the summer - so don't procrastinate!
  • Cornucopia Paragraph! The Shamrock Shuffle results are in - see here Applications for the next three Grand Prix races  - the Towpath 10K, the Lexington 5K AND the Mule Haul can be found on our Race Schedule page, not to mention the day of race signup only A.C.E. Fun Run Mile in May.

  • FMRRC member story -  There is another nice story on the FMCC website about FMCC in general and Ambrose Schaffer, an FMRRC member, in particular. You can read it here
  • Winter Wimp Story -  There is a nice writeup on the Winter Wimp in the Gloversville Leader-Herald. Here's the link
  • Winter Wimp minutiae -  There were 210 hardy finishers, 153 in the 4.4 mile and 57 in the 2.2 mile. Jaime Julia and Samantha Roecker took first places in the 4.4 mile, and Chad Casler and Kellie Lawton took first places in the 2.2 mile. 61 FMRRC members ran the 4.4 mile, and 14 ran the 2.2 mile. The youngest runners were Jacob Palczak and Aleah Schaffer, both 10, while the oldest runner was Larry Fisher at a spry 78. The only imaginary number was the temperature - imagining it was warmer was good mentally.
  • The 2012 Winter Wimp is in the books! The conditions were typical, that is FRIGID!!!! Congratulations to all the hardy souls that braved the elements. A special THANK YOU goes to the all the volunteers and the Hagaman Volunteer Fire Department, for volunteering their time and facilities to make this race possible. The 4.4 mile results are here and the 2.2 mile results are here.
  • HAPPY NEW YEAR - The slate is clean. Let's all resolve to be a little older (can't be helped), a little wiser, a little kinder, and a lot faster. May you run all of life's races well.
  • New Year, new treasurer - After years of mathematical wizardry, Jane Constantine is retiring from the post of FMRRC treasurer. Many thanks to Jane from all for a job WELL DONE all these years. The new treasurer is Keith Waters - his contact info is on the contacts page.
  • All good things come to those who wait -  the 2012 mileage challenge application and tally sheets are up - go to the Mileage Challenge .  After many years of service overseeing the mileage challenge, Jim Moore is retiring.  Jim - thanks from everyone for a job WELL DONE all these years.. The new mileage challenge director is Doris Castle - the change is reflected on the forms.
  • This years Grand Prix race schedule has been set - it consists of the same races as this year - see the Grand Prix page for details.
  • The process for election into the FMRCC Hall of Fame has been finalized. To view the selection/election process rules, go here. If you have a nomination, please send it along with the appropriate comments to  Ginny Mosher .  Based on input from several club members, the process for selecting membership to the club's prestigious Hall of Fame, published in draft form in the August 2011 newsletter, was finalized. The major change was elimination of the provision that only one member could be inducted in any given year. The three person nomination/selection committee (the president, vice-president, and secretary) now has the option of choosing two or more members for induction in a given year. As before, nominations for Hall of Fame membership may be made by any active club member. Time is of the essence so please email your nominations by October 16th at the latest.
  • New Features on the Website!  If you look at the links column on the left hand side of the page, you'll notice two new links - Newsletter Archives and Recipe Corner. The newsletter archives will eventually contain all the newsletters prior to this calendar year that could be obtained, while the recipe corner will feature a new and delicious recipe at regular intervals. If you have a favorite "runner friendly" recipe- good for you and good too - please submit it to us
  • If anyone out in the running community has race results or an upcoming race they'd like to have added to the race results or race calender, or comments or sugggestions about the website, please email Bill Platt
  • Looking for someone to run with on Saturday mornings?  Come to the Burger King Restaraunt on Route 30 in Amsterdam. That's now been adopted as the official meeting place following the recent closing of  McDonalds up the road.  On almost any Saturday morning year-round you'll find Fulmont Roadrunners running four or eight miles (and sometimes more) at varing paces, starting out at 8 AM. There's also a walking group.  After the running/walking, most folks stop in at Burger King for refreshments and war stories (about their chosen sport, of course)
